John's Excitement

We received a cute piece of sleep-wear for John from a colleague of Bryan's in the speech recognition field this week. It fits him nicely. So cuddly. Thanks so much! John just loves it!

John is *almost* 4 months old

It's amazing to think that John is almost 4 months old already. It seems that John has found his feet (he loves grabbing them). He also is now swatting at his favorite toy while sitting in his bouncy chair. He loves standing up too. Julie worked this past weekend and John and I got some father-son bonding time. It was great! John is still eating about every 3-4 hours. We're a little tired, but doing fine.

At home we are decorating the house for the Rosetta Stone (Boulder) holiday party. We had the realization that the Lab has grown large enough to make having a meeting at a restaurant both hard and unappealing. Hopefully the party should be a blast!

John at 14 Weeks

John is now eating a little bit of oatmeal cereal and has squeals of joy. He loves sitting up in his baby bumbo chair. Here's a picture of John at 14 weeks. Any guesses on how much he weighs? Here's a nice video of John "talking" to us. He's soooo happy!

Tummy Time

November 7-- John has gone from loving tummy time to absolutely hating it. We're working on this by putting him on a pillow instead. Here's a couple of pictures of John doing his tummy time. We're trying to get his neck a little less wobbly. Hopefully he will master this soon.

Baby's First Halloween

October 31 -- Okay this year we had a little fun at Halloween. I dressed up as a surgeon and Julie was a nurse. John was our little pumpkin! We went to the party on the Pearl Street Mall in downtown Boulder on Friday of Halloween (this was right outside my office!). We then had a party for all the kids that night at a neighbor's house and then had a second party across the street on Saturday night to go to. John was dressed up in another costume for that party. Here are some pictures from Halloween,

Here's Julie and John on Halloween night. We're trying out his other costume.

Denver Race for the Cure

October 4 -- Julie and I decided we'd take baby John out for a nice stroll. We participated in the Denver "Race for the Cure" to support breast cancer research. The event was held in downtown Denver. About 60k people participated! If you've never done this sort of thing, we highly recommend it. I think this was the first morning we got up and realized that it takes far longer to go ANYWHERE with a baby. I normal 20 minute up-and-going took about an hour and a half. Well, we missed the 5k walk, but we did make it to the family walk and had fun!

Here we are at the Finish Line!!

Erkki & Riitta Nissinen; Seppo & Vuokko Luukkonen Visit

September 28 -- We were visited by our friends from Finland (Erkki & Ritta Nissinen) who we met through the Fulbright Association while living in Finland in 2006. Erkki and Ritta were joined by their good friends Seppo and Vuokko Luukkonen. We had a nice visit from September 28th - October 1st. Both couples came back at the end of October and stayed with us an extra day before they returned to Finland. The Nissinen's and Luukkonen's traveled to Denver, Salt Lake City, Los Angeles, and Nappa Valley during their trip. Here's a picture of us making some wonderful Karelian Pies (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Karelian_pasties).
